Boundaries and Consent / Conscious Touch Workshop 2020-11-24T13:27:51+00:00

After thoughtful consideration and advice from experts, Agama is introducing a prerequisite for all those joining or repeating our Tantra workshops: a one-day (six-hour) Boundaries and Consent/Conscious Touch Workshop. We believe that this mandatory and highly interactive workshop is necessary to provide a safe container for Tantra studies and practice under our guidance. It will focus on issues not normally presented in classical Tantra theory but indispensable for modern-day men and women who intend to explore tantric practice.

This training will help all participants to navigate interpersonal interactions and relationships using self-awareness practices, role-playing, games, and exercises informed by modern teachings and techniques. It’s our firm belief that education and awareness can make a significant impact on participants’ feelings of safety, ability to express authentically, understanding of self and others, and cultivation of a space of openness to allow for the level of surrender essential to reach the depths of tantric practice.

The workshop will include the following topics, among others:

  • Definitions: consent, boundaries, and the relevance of this topic to sexual Tantra and any kind of relationship
  • Self-knowledge – boundaries, shame, fears, what blocks us from expressing ourselves and reading our own somatic cues
  • Self-responsibility, self-care, and protection from abuse
  • Feeling safe – what does it take and what are the recommended guidelines
  • Cultivating clear communication – learning how to say “no” and ask for what you want at any given moment
  • Emotional reactions and learning how to hear “no,” learning how to truly listen to and respect others
  • Conscious touch – learning how to increase your awareness when touching and being touched, exploring pleasure and presence
  • Understanding consent frameworks; learning the differences between giving/receiving, being active/passive
  • Non-sexual touch versus sexual touch; social conditioning and practical tools for application
  • Power dynamics – exploring the psychological aspects of relationships such as projection, idealization, expectations, self-abnegation; special attention will be given to relationships between those in positions of authority and subordinates, more advanced/newer practitioners, etc.

There is no nudity or genital touch in this workshop. Boundaries in sexuality will be explored using rules of safety and only at specific times determined and announced by facilitators, who will supervise all exercises. All exercises are optional. Facilitators will provide individual assistance to any participants seeking additional support.

This workshop is held Saturday and Sunday 17-20:00 and Sunday 21-22:00 for an live QnA.

Nature is constantly blessing Koh Phangan with blue skies, breathtaking sunsets and short, refreshing rain showers to cool down the tropical weather.

Agama is the pioneer of Yoga on the tropical island paradise of Koh Phangan, Thailand. The school was founded on the island in 2003 by Swami Vivekananda Saraswati, a Yogi for over 30 years who has dedicated his life to teaching an authentic form of Hatha Yoga in a modern scientific approach.

Agama believes that there should be a bridge between spirituality and rational thinking, and classes are taught accordingly. The teachings are easy to implement in daily life and are often adopted immediately by students.
