HOW TO GET HERE

This website has a convenient guide to getting to Koh Phangan; but always be sure to check yourself as fares, scheduled journeys etc change often.  We have included additional information, but again, be aware that this information is continually changing so it is best to always check for yourself.

1. To reach us from Bangkok:

Koh Phangan is easy to reach from Bangkok (or most places in Thailand) as it attracts many tourists.  As Koh Phangan is an island, your trip here will incorporate a ferry ride.  It is probably best to buy a joint ticket – which means your flight/bus/train plus ferry ride; as then your entire journey is booked. If you buy a joint ticket, it will also include the transfer from your flight/bus/train to the ferry terminal.  If you do not buy a joint ticket, you are responsible for your own transfer.  Surat Thani train station and airport are located nearly an hour from the ferry terminal, so this is important to note.

Flying

The closest airports are Koh Samui (the next island and a 30 minute ferry ride away) or Surat Thani (on the mainland and between a 2 hour and 4 hour ferry ride depending on which ferry company you travel with).  You can also fly to Chumpon and get the ferry (around 3 hours) from there.  From Koh Samui, there is an information stand near the airport baggage claim where you can book a joint ticket to Koh Phangan (transfer ferry).  Be aware that the last ferry of the day leaves around 5 pm; you can check ferry schedules here, but be aware that this information may change seasonally.

Check out skyscanners for airlines which service these routes. which airline also offers an excellent service to find low cost airlines. You can also try wikitravel to find low cost carriers throughout Asia.

You can try Solar Air for the Bangkok/Chumpon route, they partner with ferry company Lomprayah to provide a joint ticket (i.e. flight ferry) to Koh Phangan. Check Bangkok Air for flights from Bangkok to Koh Samui. Nok Air also fly Bangkok to Chumpon or Surat Thani; they partner with ferry company Lomprayah to provide a joint ticket (i.e. flight ferry) to Koh Phangan.

Bus

There are a number of bus companies which service Koh Phangan, and which can provide a joint ticket (i.e. bus ferry) to Koh Phangan.  There are many, many travel booking agencies in Bangkok (particularly around the tourist areas of Khao San Road) which can book your ticket for you.  Probably the fastest service is with Lomprayah ferries – they have their own travel agency office at Khao San Road; they can also do train booking etc.

Train

There are many, many travel booking agencies in Bangkok (particularly around the tourist areas of Khao San Road) which can book your ticket for you; be aware that weekends and public holidays are often booked out in advance. For a complete schedule of trains between Bangkok and Surat Thani, visit the State Railway  (there is an option to read the page in English). It is possible to do this trip on your own, but a bit more cumbersome than the joint ticket option.  A joint ticket will include your train, transfer to ferry terminal (nearly 1 hour of travel) and your ferry ticket.

Ferry

If you have purchased a joint ticket, then your transfer and ferry ticket will be included.  If you have organized your own flight/train/bus then you can check ferry timetables here.

2.  From anywhere else…

If you are not arriving into Thailand via Bangkok, you may check out skyscanners for airlines which service these routes. which airline also offers an excellent service to find low cost airlines. You can also try wikitravel to find low cost carriers throughout Asia. Thai train schedules are located here at the State Railway.  Trip Advisor offers a good travel information forum. Whether you’re coming from Penang, Kuala Lumpur, or Krabi, tickets to Koh Phangan are readily available from travel agents.

3. Once on Koh Phangan

Once on Koh Phangan, if you are joining our First Level Intensive Course, tell any of the taxi drivers (tsong-tao, or shared truck taxis) or a motorbike taxi that you wish to go to Agama Yoga at Srithanu – about 6 km north of Thong Sala.
